CLUB HISTORY

NRB Harriers Athletic Club was formed in January 2012 by group of running friends, as non-profit organization and is one of the largest clubs in the King Cetshwayo district with over 100 members. The club is affiliated to KwaZulu Natal Athletics. We are based in Richards Bay, but welcomes runners from all surrounding towns. Our membership is open to ALL groups, male and female. We are a performance focused running club, and can help you maximize your running ability regardless of where you start.

The club attracts runners of all abilities and fitness goals, ranging from recreational jogger to the highest competitive road racer. We are a very social club and supportive of all our members. Most importantly, we recruit young and unemployed runners with a talent to nature and develop, from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our Mission is simple: To improve performance through specific workouts, group race training, camaraderie, and runner to runner support. We never wanted the lack of financial resources as the barrier to a healthy, and active lifestyle. We love to run and help others discover both the mental and physical benefits that come along with it. We develop friendships, build support groups, train together, share ideas, engage in social activities, race as a team, and promote the sport in our local communities. Integrity, honesty, commitment, passion, excellence and teamwork are the core values & foundation of our club.

We have group training runs that range from just a few kilometres to 50+ km long runs for marathoners. We have a variety of runs including easy pace & speed and tempo work. Our members also include road running, track & field and cross country. No runner is left behind and we embrace all speeds and paces.

We are proud members of the NRB Harriers AC of Richards Bay.
